As YouTube users; we get tired of the ads that appear in every video.
Once you try to enjoy the video; the ads appear out of nowhere, and sometimes you can’t skip the ad, until you see it to the end.
But as a marketer; it is exactly what you want.
What are YouTube video ads?
Google Ads Campaigns have various types. One of the most famous types is Video Campaigns.
It allows you to run video ad campaigns, using the video format on YouTube, which is one of Google’s products.
The Video campaign can be displayed on YouTube, websites, and Google Video partners.
Types of YouTube Ads
YouTube Ads have six types, they are:
- The Non-Skippable in-stream.
- Display ads.
- Overlay ads.
- True-View Ads.
- Sponsored card ads.
- Bumper in-stream ads.
You should know the differences between each type to choose the best of them for your marketing campaign.
1- The Non-Skippable in-stream:
With this type of ad, YouTube users can’t skip them. They must be between 15 to 20 seconds.
They appear before, during, and after displaying the video. You can notice a label telling you: “video will play after the ad” because users will have no option to skip the ad.
Another type of Non-Skippable ad is the Mid-roll. They are shown within videos that are 10 minutes or longer.
You can use this type of YouTube ad when you want the users to see the entire message.
They can be best used in reach and brand awareness.
2- The Display ads:
The display ad appears on the right side of the video above the suggested videos list. It is so simple and usually includes text and an image.
3- The Overlay Ads:
The Overlay Ad appears as a rectangle banner at the bottom of the video.
They are truly simple and can be customized easily; they can be only plain texts, without even an image.
4- The True-View Ads:
The True-View ads are the most important part of YouTube ads.
They are the main format of YouTube ads and give the user control over the ads they see.
The True-View ads also can be within 12 seconds to 6 minutes in length, and they have two types; the in-stream ads and the discovery ads.
- True-View in-stream Ads:
This type of ad can be displayed before the video. They have a countdown timer, and a link; so the viewer can click and convert to the product/service.
The true-view in-stream ads usually have a companion ad displayed above the suggested video lists, on the right side, and the good news is that they can be customized by the marketers, so they can add a call to action.
- True-View Discovery Ads:
The second type of True-View ads is; the True-View Discovery ads.
They appear within the video search results on YouTube, and the watch pages.
When a YouTube user clicks on the discovery ad, it will redirect him to another page to watch the video.
5- The Sponsored Card ads:
They appear as a small (i) symbol on the top right side of the video, and when you click them the symbol will expand.
6- The Bumper In-stream Ads:
Actually; they look like non-skippable ads, but they must be less than 6 seconds in length.
It helps you also in building brand awareness, and you will be charged using target CPM bidding.
