When a user visits your website and then opens a lot of tabs beside it, he can spot your tab by the favicon, so he can reopen it easier, and without confusion.
In 2019 Google started to use favicons, when displaying websites on mobile devices. But they were known since 1999, in Internet Explorer browsers as “favorites”.
Where can you find the favicons?
You can find the favicons in many places. They can be found right above the address bar of your browser, in the browser history drop-down menu, the Toolbar apps, and bookmarks.
Simply you can find the favicons beside everything that identifies your website.

Why do you need a favicon?
You should now ask; why do you need a favicon? Why are they important?
Well, I’m going to tell you.
It is an important step when you construct a website for your business.
It is like the logo. It helps in building your unique identity, and to boosts your online brand, so people can recognize your brand immediately when they first see it.
For example: the icon of Facebook, or Twitter, after opening a lot of tabs, you still can recognize where the icon is, and it’s easy to go back and open it.
Are Favicons important for SEO?

Well; yes, but not directly.
The Favicons are an important tool to improve your ranking. Here are some reasons why are they important:
1- Advantage:
Websites with Favicons have an extra advantage over websites that don’t use them. If you don’t have a favicon you may miss the chance of being bookmarked.
The website with a favicon has a better chance to be clicked and viewed.
2- A good user experience:
Marketing agencies in Egypt recognize the importance of the user experience in ranking high on search engines; Google gives the priority to websites with good user experience.
